Network Management Engineer - Netcool

Job Description

The Network Management Engineer (NME) will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in a variety of network management technologies, primarily with IBM Tivoli NetCool TBSM, Impact, Omnibus, Reporter and Netcool Web Portal, and secondarily with Smarts InCharge, and NetIQ AppManager. Experience managing and participating in the holistic design and creation of network system management policies. Familiarity with current LAN, MAN, and WAN technologies is required.

The NME will perform the following job duties and responsibilities:
· Designing, engineering, configuring, installing, testing, training, and documenting complex architectures and component configurations relating to routing/switching products and/or solutions;
· Supporting the project team and customers;
· Participate in design and peer reviews;
· Provide subject matter expertise for the development of proposals (technical writing);
· Feasibility analysis, technical case studies, and cost estimates;
· Analyze and transform operational and/or functional needs into solutions while remaining compliant with regulations, policies and procedures; document description of system parameters and integrate those parameters to optimize the overall solutions effectiveness and efficiency at task;
· Research, analyze, recommend and implement new technologies, standard processes, tools and techniques where applicable using creative and innovative solutions;
· Perform mentoring and training tasks for peers and customers as required; transfer project knowledge to other team members and customers as required;
· Perform risk identification, assessment, remediation, and planning for all aspects of performance;

Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology or the combination of significant equivalent and relevant military/work experience, technical training and certifications.

Relevant industry certification(s) are highly desirable.

Requires 5-8 years experience.
· Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Network Management tools (NetCool, NetIQ AppManager, Smarts) design, implementation, advanced configuration, management, and administration.
· Must be able to engineer, prototype, stage, assemble, integrate, install, test, document, and sustain enterprise applications, MAN/LAN/WAN network equipment, and interconnecting infrastructure
· 4+ years of experience designing, maintaining and operating within a DoD (preferably AF) network environment;
· 3+ years of experience as a network engineer / network management engineer;
Knowledge of U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. Air Force security requirements, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Ability to obtain and maintain US Government DoD Secret Clearance required.
Travel at 20-30% may be required.
